We might hit 3 million points this month, that is pretty sweet.

Top 2000 either late today or early tomorrow is looking likely!

Even in the top 1000 there are a bunch of inactive teams. 1000th place currently has 13.4 million points, is currently not folding, and we’re gaining several million per month. It won’t happen this month but it we’ll probably get there first quarter next year.

Looking a little more closely it’s interesting (to me at least) that a lot of the teams with all these points are teams of 1 person, and at least in the 900-1000th place range the vast majority are still inactive, or only putting up 10-20k points a week.

A lot of teams probably used to have more folders, but people lost interest/uninstalled the program. Or, I suppose that it’s possible that they have always had just one or two people, but have been doing it for 10 years so the points have really added up over time.

We’ll have a slight dip in production as I brought my work computer (one of the better machines for folding I have going) with me on my trip home for Thanksgiving, but I neglected to bring my charger (and no one here has a Dell). So, I’ll only be using that computer sparingly/as needed and not folding for the next few days.

I’m still learning how to use Linux but I managed to install CentOS 6 and get the FAH client installed and running. Haven’t figured out the viewer yet but it’s easy enough to just edit the config file to show my name, team number, and what power level I want it to run at. We’ll find out on the next update if that actually worked.

I’ve done this several times. Consequently I now own 3 chargers for my laptop. The cheapest one was about $30 at Best Buy and is a universal (laptop) power supply with half a dozen different plugs. I’ve been using it for about 2 years now without any issue.

I will not be folding for a few days over the weekend either, as I’ll be traveling. If I have wi-fi at the hotel I’ll get it running again but it will likely be slow folding.

Finishing a nice WU in about an hour

I have purchased all of my team laptops and currently have a dedicated PC switched on 24/7 with it running.

Sorry, should read - I have purchased them all laptops so have been able to free up a PC to keep running it 24/7
