Bobcat Cafe Dauntaun Brown
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown color with a cap of a white head that dissipated immediately barely leaving any lace. The aroma had some soft milk chocolate tones with some sweet banana and then a light sweet creamy coffee-esque quality coming out as it warms. The flavor stayed sweet throughout with the underlying sweet creamy coffee portion touching the milk chocolate and banana pretty nice. Sweet blended malty chocolate to banana aftertaste with the same sort of finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Low carbonation feels good. ABV feels appropriate. Overall, though missing the clove spice and wheat bite, it’s a decent beer as is. Just not a true dunkelweizen.

Bobcat Cafe Mud Puddle Porter
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a black color with a thin white foamy head that dies off immediately. Left no lacing. The aroma had some roasty coffee and subtle cocoa powder. Light vanilla tones underneath. The flavor yields to the roastiness first. Blended aftertaste of the coffee and cocoa. Subtle roasty finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. Roastiness is there but keeps a good feel on my tongue. Overall, good porter worthy of coming back to.

Bobcat Cafe Buels Gore Black Lager
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a black color with a thin white foamy head that dies off fairly quick. Light rings of lace try to stick to the glass. The aroma had some roasty coffee to chocolate malty notes flowing on into a bready mixture. The flavor blends the lager yeasty sweet breadiness to the coffee and chocolate. Flows nicely into the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV feels appropriate. Good expected smoothness. Overall, good schwarzbier that I could have again.

Bobcat Cafe Baltic Porter
Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a frothy white head managing to dissipate at a good pace. Mild lacing. The aroma starts off with a huge sweet milk chocolate base. Crisp nutty notes follow in. Dark fruits play with some dark chocolate. The flavor yields to the sweet side with a soft smooth bitterness from the dark chocolate. Dark fruits seem to fall back way more. Lingering robust dark chocolate plays with the sweet side in the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a spectacular sessionability about it. ABV seems well hidden. Overall, I liked this one a lot for me as the ABV doesn’t seem as pronounced as in other Baltic porters. Also, the dark fruits really don’t make any noise in this one so much, so another quality somewhat missing from this. Still, something about it that I would love to come back to.

Bobcat Cafe Wee Heavy Scotch Ale
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a sturdy dark pale orange color. Slim rim of white foamy head quickly breaks apart to leave sly little messy valleys of head. Far speckled lace. The aroma had some dry malted earthy barley/grainy tones. Ridged with a caramel to toffee backbone and a touch of ash to smoke and then leveled out with some peat. The flavor was the malts up front, dry and crisp with the earthiness and caramel. Semi-sweet but broken. Rich malty aftertaste. Malty to peaty sort of finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionability about it. Extremely low carbonation (just how the style should be). Malts feel fine and not cloying. Overall, nice scotch ale/wee heavy that I could have again.

Bobcat Cafe Imperial Stout
Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark brown color with a thin finger’s worth of off white foamy head. Gentle dissipation. The aroma had some dark fruits, light milk chocolate sweetness, a tad of vanilla extract. And then some dark chocolate bitterness. The flavor yields to the sweet side. Some roastiness plays underneath. Sly blended aftertaste. Quick dark fruity finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a bit more sessionable sort of ability to it. Moderate carbonation. Overall, for an imperial stout, it is a bit thinner than expected. At least the aroma and flavor is good.

Bobcat Cafe Main Street Mild
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a ruddy burnt orange color with a cap of a small white head. Quickly dissipates and leaves no lace. The aroma had a low amount sweet grassy hops over some caramel and toasty malts. Mild acceptable soapiness. The flavor leans sweet through the malts but even that is quite low. No aftertaste but finishes quick and sweet. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Since the carbonation rides fairly low, malts tend to stick a tad on my tongue. Overall, English mild ale, yes, I understand and is good for what Bobcat wanted but I can see why so many people don’t like this. Me, I don’t mind this one. It’s a food beer.

Bobcat Cafe Kölsch
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a golden yellow color with a sly transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipates fairly quick. No lace. The aroma had some sweet corn, mild citrus and then some bitter grassy hops. The flavor brings together all of those previously mentioned aromas. Sly sweet aftertaste with the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a spectacular sessionability about it. Carbonation seems to hit just right. Overall, good kolach that I could come back to on warmer days.

Bobcat Cafe Ripton Red
Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a dark ruddy burnt amber color with a finger’s worth of foamy white head that dissipates evenly. Extremely light messy lace. The aroma had some caramel / toffee malts, light pine, some citrus, then some light breadiness. The flavor brings all of the previously mentioned aromas to blend nicely. Light malty aftertaste, sly malty sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Good carbonation. Piney bitterness tries to grip with an even harshness on my tongue. Overall, this was a decent amber ale that I could have again, preferably with food.

Bobcat Cafe Downtown Brown
Poured into a pint glass at the brewpub, the appearance was a moderately dark brown color with a sly transparency to it. Bar pour’s kind of slim white head dissipates immediately. No lacing. The aroma starts with roasty sweet nutty to caramel and then some nutty malts. Sly grassy, semi-dirty/earthiness, mostly acceptable. The flavor leans nutty sweet, nice roasty level, acceptable bitter grassy happiness to balance. Sly sweet nutty aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this was a decent sessionably smooth Brown ale deep with a rich sly maltiness laying down on my tongue appropriately. Carbonation seems to ride nice and low. Overall, nice English styled brown ale that I would have again.

Bobcat Cafe Brickwall Pale
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a glossy semi-burnt orange color almost brown. Thin bar pour’s kind of slim white head dissipates immediately. No lacing. The aroma takes some malty sweet toffee and caramel tones rolling into some sweet nuts, almost pecan-like. Somewhat buttery, but not diacetyl. Light grassy hops. The flavor brings in the sweet malts to the nuts, enjoyable with a sly nutty (semi-buttery aftertaste and finish). On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Low carbonation mainly. Sly smooth feel really rolling over my tongue. Overall, this was a decent English pale ale. Quite clean all around and acceptable.

Bobcat Cafe Scottish 90 Schilling
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a glossy dark brown color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head. No lacing. The aroma starts off with some sweet malty notes of nuts, toffee, light caramel, some bready notes, and then a light sweet meatiness. Subtle smoke as it warms. Lack of "peatiness" makes me think a little bit. The flavor brings all of the previously mentioned aromas together nicely with lack of "peatiness" once again. Sweet malty aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation seems good, fairly smooth. Overall, pretty good Scottish ale but does lack some of the normal "peatiness" usually expected in the style. Still, I think I could come back to.

Bobcat Cafe Bristol Pride
On tap at the brewpub. Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a bronzed golden amber color with a thin yet lasting head that dissipated at a nice pace. No lacing. The aroma had the normal qualities of an ESB, creamy sweet bready to biscuity tones with some clean fruity esters. The flavor cleanly produces the malty sweetness with some crisp nuttiness and then the fruity esters to balance. Exceptionally clean sweet malty aftertaste with a light grassy sweetness in there as well. Quick semi-sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable smooth sweet crisp feel to it. Carbonation rides fairly easy. Smooth sweet semi-creamy effects flow over my tongue nicely. Overall, as an ESB it works and I would have again. Pass the fish n’ chips.

Bobcat Cafe Strawberries & Cream
Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass at brewpub. The appearance was a glossy, semi-clear mildly pale burnt orange color. Mild lacing after a barely there little bit of a cap of a head. The aroma did have some sweet to lightly tart strawberry, yes, authentic. Mild sweet malts behind. The flavor brings in the sweet to the tart nicely. Delicate sweet strawberry aftertaste. Quick finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Nice sessionability for what it is. Does somewhat come across creamy-like on my tongue. Overall, it does the job of an American styled cream ale with brewer creativity. Nice for the Summer.

Bobcat Cafe Summer Hefeweizen
Reviewed from notes (last night 5/28/2016). This was poured into a pint glass at the brewpub, yeah, well, I still got everything I believe they meant to put in this thing. The appearance was the normal cloudy burnt yellow to orange color with a slim less than a finger’s worth of white foamy head. No lacing. The smell had all of the normal characteristics of a great hefeweizen - spicy clove, banana esters, subtle bubblegum (really faint just saying). The taste started off sweet through the banana esters and bubblegum. Spicy clove follows just a tad lighter. Nice sweet aftertaste leading into the same finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a crisp sessionably malty feel sliding along my tongue. Moves nicely. Overall, the other hefeweizen, these guys do and its really good.

Bobcat Cafe Porter
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a bartender’s pour of a slim white head that quickly dissipated. Lacing, what lacing, eh, not there. The smell had all of the normal qualities of an American porter - roasty to sweet cocoa to coffee qualities rolling into some light fruity components. The taste was basically the same - roasty to bitter to sweet. Light wet cocoa-ish aftertaste with a quick finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs good, somewhat light. Overall, pretty good American styled porter, and I could have again.

Bobcat Cafe Black Rye
On tap at Bobcat brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a black colored slim foamy/ off white head that dissipated within a good half minute. Minimal lacing. The smell had spicy rye over some normal bitter piney-ness. Smooth to delicate chocolate malts coming in on the background. The taste was moderately spicy with a slight sweet underscore of rye malts. Semi-sweet aftertaste. Wet spicy finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Semi-sessionable for a black rye IPA. I don’t mind it, I think I get it. Overall, I see what Bobcat is throwin’ down on this one and honestly, I think it’s solid and I would have again.

On tap at Bobcat Cafe. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a thin layer of white foamy head that dissipated immediately. Spider web lacing sticks around the glass. The smell started off with sweet fruity esters laying upon sweet to bitter comfortable caramel / toffee malts. The taste was malty sweet returning the sweet fruity esters in the front of the taste. Dry malty aftertaste. Smooth dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Smooth pleasurable malts slide along my tongue. Decent bitter feel. Overall, this was a pretty good ESB I think I could come back to.

Bobcat Cafe Nut Brown Ale
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a soft glossy burnt to transparent brown color. Light transparency is seen roaming throughout. Thin finger-ed white foamy head quickly dissipating into the beer. Light lacing. The smell had some sweet caramel/toffee/nuttiness going on. All seemed really combined. The taste was basically the same. I didn’t mind it for me. However, there is that slight nutty sweet aftertaste running into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to almost medium on the body. Yeah, it’s definitely a lighter one for the style, me, well, I’m not so worried. Overall, English styled, okay, I get it, sure, session Brown ale - more likely, definitely crushable.

The smell started off with some rich maple sweet malts up front and then a super light nutty to slightly caramel backbone. The taste was there for the style, yeah, Irish Red ale, I can see it. Malty sweet with a sly wet malty aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation rides light and underneath. Overall, damn nice Irish red ale for the style, would be a good food beer.

On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a dark red close to dark brown sort of color with a light one finger-ed foamy head. Lacing is moderate, semi-light. The smell started off with some smokey/meaty sort of sweet meat about it. To me, not bad. The taste was basically the same definitely leaning towards the sweeter/meaty side of the house. And then comes the sweet/meaty sort of aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation rides light and the body is light as well. Overall, smoked beer, yes, I can see it. Could I have it again? Yeah, possibly.

Bobcat Cafe Prayer Rock Pale Ale
On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a pale/burnt malty bronzed/semi-burnt orange color. Thin white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Light lacing ran here and there. The smell had a ton of pale burnt toasty crisp sweet malts up front, really coming through like an English pale ale but nothing close to any "soapiness" normally associated with the style. The taste was basically the same with a smooth sweet malty feel sliding into the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Carbonation rides super light and ends up creating a semi-creamy sort of effect rolling over my tongue. Overall, yeah, this is not an APA, definitely leans towards the English styled pale ale with the malts really embracing the aroma, flavor and feel. I’d have again.

At the brewpub, this was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy transparent yellow color with a filmy white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving some filmy lacing roaming all around the glass. The smell had some dried citra hops over a crispy to spiced grassy hoppiness. The taste was mainly the same, just like a Czech Pilsener. Quick semi-sweet aftertaste. Smooth grassy finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation ran light and smooth for what it was. Overall, for a Czech Pilsener, it damn sure works, I’d have again.

Bobcat Cafe Haven-ly Hefe
Yeah, I know it wasn’t served in a weizen glass, usually, I’m anal. Eh, but I’m getting appropriate characteristics. Here’s the rest in a pint glass. The appearance was a cloudy yellow color. Head dissipated immediately. No lace. The smell had all of the normal characteristics of a hefeweizen ’ s aromatics - good amount of spicy clove hitting banana esters sweetly. Normal weizen /yeastiness slides in for the balance. The taste was sweet and "hefeweizen" spicy with the appropriate quick sweet to spicy finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the spice to hit but not too harsh. Overall, hey, despite being in a pint glass, this is a pretty good hefeweizen.
