Kulminator

In februari 2014,na vele lovende verhalen, bezocht met 3 vrienden. Wat een tijdreis maak je als je in de huiskamer van de eigenaren binnenstapt. Welkom terug in de 20e eeuw. Huiselijk en erg vol is het binnen, zachte achtergrond muziek waardoor je als luidruchtige Hollanders snel de vooroordelen bevestigd van de Belgen. Er komen hier trouwens redlijk wat toeristen. De zitplaatsen zijn snel vergeven en staanplaatsen zijn er ook beperkt, tikkeltje oncomfortabel daardoor. De bierkaart is uniek met de vele bieren die al jaren in de kelder op een proever staan te wachten, dit is ook de belangrijkste reden om een bezoek te brengen aan dit café. Voor mij persoonlijk beste bierkelder waarschijnlijk wel ja, beste biercafe nee dat niet.

I’ve been here several times and this is a place like no others , WOW what a selection , great ambiance , great people If you meet Leen and Dirk then you will see their passion for beer has no limits , Great place !!! Looking forward to my next visit !

Despite the Monday to Saturday opening hours, closed the first time I went by. Luckily they had opened the next day, so I got to get into this mythical beerplace. This place isn’t like any other pub. Service is good, perhaps not the fastest, but friendly delivered by an older woman. Her husband spent the evening reading papers and complained some as he had to get up to do the dishes. A few cats walk around freely. Doesn’t feel like a pub, it is a place where people go to appreciate beer. There is no loud music, no rowdy crowds. Just two elderly proprietors, a few locals and the beerlovers. As for the selection... for Belgian beers it is good. Very good.

Place with a legendary reputation and does not fall short. Very small but was less crowded than many other central bars in Antwerp. Familial atmosphere and fantastic selection, close to being in someone’s home beer cellar. Place with real personality.

très bon bar, ambiance très très bonne. Très large choix de bière (on s’y perd un peu d’ailleurs). Bref à recommander pour les amateurs de bonnes bières

One of the best beer places in the world. You have to ask the "beer book" and choose something special.

I’ve seen many many bars, because doing this professionally. I am hard to impress. But this place struck me. Outside and inside it is not remarkable, but when you open the white book with a list of beers… wow! Real beergeek place.

A must have for any beer geek, Kulminator is THE bar to visit. Astounding selection of bottled beers from all the continents and ages, very welcoming and knowledgeble owners, unique atmoshpere. Worth a visit if you are in Antwerpen, Belguim or even Europe.

Love this place, felt like you were in your grandparents house and they loved beer. The lady was very nice, and the guy was either on the computer or meowing at the cat. Got to try a 23 year old Chimay. Prices were pretty good for the most part. Worth the visit.
