Capital AweSummer Ale
12 ounce can An unremarkable and basic lawnmower beer plays to the "light beer" crowd who just want something to wet the palate. There's not too much depth here but if you are looking for something a step up from Budweiser for people who aren't into craft beers then this works just as well as something like Spotted Cow. AROMA / APPEARANCE Grain, wheat, and cool hops tickle the nose. A malt driven base ties it all together neatly as the semitransparent bronze base rests lightly in the glass. FLAVOR / PALATE Malt, caramel, and cool wheat transition to a honey and cracker finish. After a few sips the flavor profile disappears and this becomes a way to deliver alcohol. While not one of Capital's standout releases it is serviceable and plays to a larger audience than a specialty sour or heavily hopped IPA. For that reason I might consider buying it again for visiting friends or a party.

Commercial description works well. Easy drinking. And at the seasonal closeout price Otto's was selling it at, it's a no brainer. Something I'll drink and my Budweiser friends will drink too. It's 90 degrees and humid today. Just helped a friend empty their garage - Perfect beer.

Maybe there's some more orange in there, kind of have to go searching for it. Otherwise it's just a somewhat bitter basic ale.

Original gold color with semi-frothy white head that leaves a bit of goopy lacing. Malt and biscuit aroma. Very bready and chewy on the palate, with some unusual hop notes in the swallow. It’s different enough, that’s for sure. I really enjoyed this. Bottle.

This is a backlog rating from 2013 from a bottle, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are toasted malts, caramel, earthy, nutty, thin.

Bottle thanks to Drake! Wow, I haven't rated anything from this brewery since 2004. I remember picking up that mix pack almost like it was yesterday. Pours murky amber brown with a soft off-white to beige head. Lightly smoked malt, brown leaf, caramel malt, dark fruit nose. Flavor is very sweet caramel, brown leaf, cocoa. Sticky, a bit strong, but totally drinkable, just going at it slowly.

Capital Ghost Ship White IPA
12 ounce bottle from Woodman's Menomonee Falls, 12/11/19. I got this a few weeks ago but I think it was seriously past date. I can't decipher the date code but those huge chunks don't look good. I'll rate it with that in mind. Hazy orange, thin tan head after a very gentle pour. Good retention. Aroma of grapefruit, apricot, citrus, wheat. Taste is grapefruit, pine, spice, plum, apricot, pale malt. Medium bodied, juicy. Moderate bitterness. Past its prime but still decent.

Capital Square Bomber Series Capsized Imperial IPA
There's some flavor here, but the balance and feel is a little off. For an DIPA, it's slightly below average. A lot of sweet malt, and a lot of bitter hop...just not working together quite well. A light to medium orange appearance. Not much head and lightly carbonated. OK beer that gets you buzzed!

Capital Dark Voyage Black IPA
2nd sample from Capital. This is probably one of the least hoppiest black IPAs that I've had. Well-balanced though and allows the malt to stand out more. Or, you could say that it's a hoppy dark brown ale. Either way...it's a smooth and decent brew. Wish the flavor was a bit more robust, but this is very drinkable.

Capital Autumnal Fire
My first sample from Capital. I know that they can do better than this. Way sweeter than what I expected for this style. Almost like a Strong Ale or Imperial Marzen. Aroma of sourish/tart fruit and caramel malt. The feel is smooth, which helps with the drinkability, and there is some decent flavor here...though per $, I think I would go with a Spaten Optimator over this. Looking forward to sampling more from this brewer, as they recently started making their way to FL.

Capital Special Pilsner
1/19/19. 12oz bottle from Woodman’s - Sun Prairie. Crisp clear bright golden pour with a nice white head that sticks. These WI breweries seem to have the pils look down! Surprisingly fruity aroma, like 7-Up, lemon, dough. Rough flavor... doughy but also lots of 7-Up and a bitter fusely caramel aspect. I’ve had a bunch of these lately and this one isn’t living up.

Capital Dark Doppelbock
1/16/19. 12oz bottle from Woodman’s - Sun Prairie. Another random top 50 in style... guess that happens when you move to Wisconsin. Deep amber pour, lots of red, under a small khaki head. Sweet aroma, dark fruits, caramel, bubblegum. Sweet caramel entry, dark fruits, bubblegum, fruity esters, toffee. Not bad!
