Lucky Labrador, Brave Sir Robin Hazy IPA
On tap at the Multnomah Lab, I go there twice a month and there are new beers fairly often. This is a pleasant enough beer, well-crafted, but a style I'm a bit meh about, Hazy it is is, a light murky, frothy head. aromas of lemon, resin, honey. Flavor on the thin side--which for Vermont/NE ipas is good by me, less like real OJ. flavors of lemon-ring, orange, honey and yeast. alcohol well-concealed. soft finish.

I go to the lucky lab in multnomah twice a month and recently three;s a new beer every time. Ths one came out all right. a tinge more body than the IPAs. some fruit inthe aroma (apricot), with caramel & leather.. Fruit I taste seems closer to Kiwi, with pine hops, rye and caramel. slightly to the sweet side but alittle hop rasp as well--the finish swings between.

Lucky Labrador Summerthaime Saison
Tap at OBF 2017. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Strong thyme aroma. Med body. Flavor seems to be lots of thyme, but apparently it’s a complex herb thing instead. Pretty tasty and lots of fun. Really good drink.

Lucky Labrador cosmozilla IPA
Going to the Multnomah Lab about twice a month, i always try new hoppy-ish beers. A little different to have an IPA on nitro, but it works, adding just a hint of body to what might otherwise be a bit thin in texture, Aroma is resin & caramel. Flavor also resiny with a hint of lemon & some caramel, slightly smokey. Bitter finish. 6.5 ABV, no IBUs listed.

On tap at the Multnomah Lab, worker asked me if i wanted a taste. Not a session guy, but this is crisp and pleasant, pale yellow. A floral zing in the aroma, that swampy fresh hop flavor with lemon and honey. Thin in the mouth. watery finish.

I drink at the Lucky Lab in Multnomah twice a month, trying new hoppy beers as they show up. this one is exceptional, the flavor from the hops, the brewers’ malt choices to carry these flavors through, A surprising flavor, resiny, but also alcohol (though not that strong), slightly cherry. the aromas also complex with resin, peach, aluminum. looks good, palates good. Good job lucky lab.

Tremendous build-up of yellowish, dense foam, leaving lots of lace over hazy orange beer. Very cheesy hops, bit of citrus(peel), pine. Some caramel in the background. Bitter-piney flavour, spruce or other conifer. Resiny as few. Very light cheesiness remaining in the flavour. Wry, dry-out effect. Medium bodied, very carbonated. If the intention was to give an impression from the Oregon pinewoods, mission accomplished. But a bit more drinkability might have turned out beneficial.

660ml 5.7% ABV bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. 660ml bottle. This is a very dark brown, hazy beer with a massive head of rocky tan foam. It has a roasted malt and chocolate flavour with coffee and nutty notes on the smooth finish. Pretty good.

Lucky Labrador Stumptown Porter
My first Lucky Labrador beer, gaining my sympathy for the label alone since I love both animals and porters, but what a disappointment when I opened the bomber: beer spouted out of the bottle neck, so I quickly had to grab my tasting glass in order to catch as much of it as possible - and frankly, it is the first time I experience violent gushing from an American porter... Needless to say, the head was towering high, coarse and very irregularly shaped, inflating in a few minutes to a frothy, rocky, light beige layer of foam, leaving thick patches of lacing. The beer itself had a very dark but translucent burgundy colour with ruby hue, lightly hazy in appearance - and while I was observing this, a ’tube’ of foam of a few inches long was still creeping out of the bottle and every time I tried to pour more beer into my glass, I had to cope with an enormous amount of head formation. Aroma of overripe figs, unsugared apple sauce, blackberries, quite a lot of ’haemoglobin’ iron, caramel, FFF (freshly fermented farmland), coffee grounds, soggy or even somewhat mouldy brown bread, old dusty milk chocolate bars, dried nettles, fermenting grass, liquorish, brown sugar, green banana, autumn leaves, cappuccino mix, ginger powder, clove-like phenols. Deep but unmistakable sourishness of blackberries or fermenting fruit mingled with fig and pear sweetness opens the palate, with a softish to medium carbonation, minerals here and there; supple, caramelly and very nutty malt bittersweetness (more bitter than sweet) ensues, rather light, thinnish and dryish with a metallic ’zing’ to it and with the fruity esters and some phenols on top; a tad of coffee grounds-like roasted bitterness appears in the end, aided by a dash of herbal, earthy hops providing a more ’vivid’, spicy bitterness, interfering too much with the malts. Ends dry, toasted and nutty with the herbal, rather dull but bittering hops continuing, juicy, but as expected, off-balance and with misplaced spicy phenols retronasally; the finishing drought is reinforced by the sourish undertone accompanying the palate from beginning to end, and clearly resulting from onsetting infection, which I also hold responsible for the extreme gushing. I was expecting a much cleaner beer considering its ’geozythological’ background, but what I got, was something much more reminiscent of a well-intended but technically flawed ’new Belgian micro brewery’ attempt at porter or even Belgian dubbel, too estery, but most of all, clearly infected. Though the basic flavour profile is acceptable for the style it pretends to be (plain brown porter), the infection clearly decreased the quality enormously - with points off for the unexpected strong gushing as a result. This does not motivate me to purchase more from this brewery, I’m afraid.

Orange-amber pour, huge head that lasts quite a while. Pine and citrus in the nose. The taste follows through, with citrus (bitter grapefruit, mostly) and pine easily identifiable, on top of a caramel-sweet backbone. Bitter-sweet finish, somewhat dry (which is a plus from me). Not a super complex beer, but I don’t think it should be.
