Great hire for Rutgers, best up and coming young coach put there in my opinion. Took at 0-12 FIU squad to two straight bowl games.

He’s got that U swag coarsing through his veins. Former Cane player and Oline coach. Awesome recruiter as well.

4* OL Alex Kozan
Diamond in the rough 8 Man football standout Nate Meier. Just to give you an idea, Iowa picks up unheralded kids from 8 Man football every year or so. Riley Reiff (1st Round this year) and Chad Greenway came from 8 Man football.

Let’s see what the rest of this week brings!

What in Christ’s name is 8 man football? Some sandlot 4 on 4 action? I used to be uncoverable running the post in my younger days.

It’s for the kids from very small towns in the midwest and great plains.

Iowa has one class of 8/9Man Football (Iowa’s is actually 9 Man, SDakota offers 8 Man).

Kid is 2*s.. but he was the entire team. Hard to translate to 11 man.. but I’m very happy with it looking at the tape. Could play RB/FB, LB, or even project to DE if he grows..

There are some tiny schools in the panhandle of Texas/ OK/ Western KS that play 6 man football. Most kids play both ways....it is FUN to watch very wide open sandlot style.

Yes. It’s an exciting game and kids are forced to have both skillsets to play both sides of the ball.

It’s hard to gauge how they translate.. but often times the best kids are overlooked and gems in the rough, as far as their ability to play.

Chad Greenway was a kid who was a perfect example of this.

Yeah, he’s not going anywhere. Schiano couldn’t recruit well enough at Rutgers to win the the Big East. He only came close once... and it took him 11 years at Rutgers to land a better job. ELEVEN years! Hell, if the AQ changes shake-out, FIU has as good a chance at getting a BCS invite as Rutgers. Probably a better fan base too.

Weather’s much nicer in Miami too.

Here are the NCAA Div. 1 men’s college basketball RPI rankings for teams of interest as of Monday, January 30th, 2012. I’ll try to provide an update every Monday throughout the NCAA Div. 1 men’s basketball season.
More-so than the AP poll and USA Today coaches poll, the RPI is the best gauge of where your team stands in relation to being invited to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in March 2012 and its subsequent seeding.

RPI ranking (strength of schedule ranking)

#1 Syracuse (8)
#6 Ohio State (31)
#12 Missouri (106)
#15 Florida (68)
#17 West Virginia (3)
#23 Florida State (7)
#35 Mississippi State (59)
#36 Alabama (13)
#52 Miami (40)
#73 UCF (109)
#75 South Florida (33)
#76 LSU (50)
#102 George Mason (278)
#127 Iowa (56)
#130 Penn State (47)
#140 Auburn (134)
#166 South Carolina (75)

If you’re someone who peruses this forum, but doesn’t regularly contribute, please let me know your team of interest and I’ll add it to the weekly update. Cheers! -Eric

Wonder how much longer he stays at FIU, he’s a hot name right now, and has seemingly turned down Pitt, and now Rutgers. His dream job would be the U, but Golden aint going nowhere.
